🌟 It’s the day before the #12DaysOfTurvy mini writing challenge over on Instagram hosted by authors Saffron Amatti, Shari T. Mitchell, Brook Peterson, and yours truly! My own D2D crew – comprised of Door to Door Paranormal Mystery and Bellerose Witchline characters – is gathering in Matar at Lucie Bellerose’s townhouse to discuss this latest challenge. Let’s listen in…
“I read through the details, and there’s no way we’re dealing with a bunch of drama this time. Plus, we’re at Lucie’s. What could go wrong?” Emily Swift stood at the buffet pouring a 2-liter of ginger ale over a block of orange sorbet. Hissing rose from the punch bowl.
Templeton made a moue of disgust. “What is *that*?”
“Holiday punch. It’s tradition,” Emily replied. “Anyhow, Brown added a few of her own ‘fun’ rules to the challenge.” She gestured to an upside-down top hat sitting on the little used dining table. “Twelve envelopes are inside. We each get two.”
Rabbit snagged a baby carrot as Lucie carried in a tray of vegetables. “There’s going to be eight of us,” she mumbled, setting the food down.
“What was that?” Tara cocked her head to the side. “Eight? I’m counting six. You, Emily, Rabbit, Big Rabbit, Templeton, and me.”
Lucie rearranged a couple of dishes on the buffet.
“Lucie?”
“Flame wanted to join in, and he does live here.” Lucie rolled her eyes. “Still.”
“That’s only seven.” Tara paused, then grimaced. “You didn’t?”
“He didn’t have anywhere to go for the holidays.” Lucie fanned the napkins in a decorative pile. “I know what it’s like to be alone this time of year.”
The others simply stared.
“And it’s my home.” Lucie lifted her gaze. “I can invite whomever I choose.”
Rabbit shook his head and glanced at Templeton. The Salesman stood quietly in the doorway. Abruptly turning, he disappeared into the kitchen. Seconds later, the pantry door opened and slammed shut.
“Is your ‘charity case’ really worth it?” Tara asked.
Lucie raised a shoulder.
“I’ll go after Templeton,” Emily grumbled, grabbing her jacket.
“You know where he went?” Tara asked.
“No, but I’ll follow his energy trail,” Emily said, tracing Templeton’s steps and door traveling through the pantry door.
🎄 This mini challenge runs from December 1 – 12! Stay tuned as tomorrow the first prompt is: Weather. (That post is now available – find it here!)
Readers – Not on Instagram?
That’s okay! I’ll be sharing my Instagram posts daily here on my blogsite AND daily on Facebook at Writer Tracy Brown so you can read them there, too. Make sure you check for a new story every day from December 1st through December 12th!
What’s This Mean for Door to Door & Bellerose Witchline Characters?
I’ll be dropping Emily Swift, Lucie Bellerose, Templeton, Rabbit, Tara, Sebastian, and the rest of the crazy crew into a story matching the holiday-themed “prompt of the day” from the challenge.
If you ARE on Instagram, make sure you’re following me at https://www.instagram.com/WriterTracyBrown/ to see the posts there! But again, as long as you check out my blog list or my Writer Tracy Brown page every day, you can read all the short stories without Instagram. 🙂
