🧚 It’s Day 2 of the #FairyTaleMe22 writing challenge on Instagram! Yesterday, Door to Door characters shared their favorite fairy tales AND a familiar Big Baddie crashed the party. Today’s prompt? “What’s your favorite fairy tale setting?” Castle? Sea floor? Haunted woods? Someplace else?
“What did I miss?” Sebastian snagged an empty chair and wedged it in between Lucie and Tara, giving the latter the side-eye. “Try to keep your hands off me, Bookworm.”
“Not if you were the last *expletive deleted* man on the planet,” Tara grimaced.
Sebastian picked up the clipboard. “Let’s see. Favorite fairy tale? Easy. Same as Lucie’s. Little Red Riding Hood.”
Lucie sighed. Taking a solo vacation was sounding better and better.
Emily rarely spoke to Sebastian during these challenges. He was violent, ruthless, and for many, the face of the Fringe. She regarded him calmly. “You weren’t invited. Who told you we were here?”
Sebastian tilted his head. “You don’t know, do you?” His eyes flicked to Templeton. The other Salesman watched him coolly. “You never told her?” His attention slid back to Emily. “I own Zenith.”
Emily’s eyebrows lifted. So, it wasn’t a coincidence that she first saw Sebastian on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant! She turned her ire to Templeton. “You knew this?”
Big Rabbit leaned across the table and plucked the clipboard from Sebastian’s hand. “Fairy tale setting. Can I just choose the woods? Does it have to be haunted?”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Emily lifted her palms.
Big Rabbit continued. “I’m thinking it’s the same for Rabbit. Lucie? Is yours the sea floor? The Little Mermaid thing?”
“She likes Little Red Riding Hood,” Sebastian maintained.
“Good. She can stay in the forest with us and we’ll wring the wolf’s neck if he touches her.” Big Rabbit’s happy face twisted into something mean.
“Right, alcohol is the reason things go off the rails in these IG challenges.” Tara stood, elbowing Sebastian in the back as she headed for the bar.
Rabbit watched the chaos unfold. Emily berated Templeton while his gaze stayed trained on Lucie – who looked like she was praying for a hole in the ground to rip open and drag her under. Sebastian and Big Rabbit continued to trade threats. Rabbit’s eyes slipped into a solid black before he slammed his fist on the table. “Enough!”
The room grew still. His hand flexed. “Let’s move on to the next prompt.”
🧚This challenge runs from August 1 – 13! Stay tuned as tomorrow’s prompt is: “What’s your role in the fairy tale?” (That post is now available – please click here!)

What’s This Mean for Door to Door & Bellerose Witchline Characters?
I’ll be dropping Emily Swift, Lucie Bellerose, Templeton, Rabbit, Tara, and the rest of the crazy crew into a story matching the fairy tale “prompt of the day” from the challenge.
If you ARE on Instagram, make sure you’re following me at https://www.instagram.com/WriterTracyBrown/ to see the posts there! But again, as long as you check out my blog list or my Writer Tracy Brown page every day, you can read all the short stories without Instagram. 🙂
