It’s day 2 of the #TopsyTurvyTVTour over on Instagram! Yesterday Emily enjoyed playing the famous TV sleuth, Jessica Fletcher. Today she and her best friend Tara Parker-Jones head into the English countryside. Here we go…
(This is a derivative work based on the TV show Midsomer Murders – episode Talking to the Dead.)
“I don’t know about this,” Tara Parker-Jones worried as she flipped through the script. “The English landscape is so pretty and all, but you just know someone’s going to be brutally murdered at any turn.”
“But we’re the detectives in this script,” Emily Swift waved a hand at her friend. “We’re so crafty we don’t even need to carry guns.”
“Yeah, I don’t get that.” Tara ran her finger over the script as she searched for her lines.
“Me either. But hey, it works for them,” Emily shrugged.
“Who are you playing?” Tara asked.
“DCI Tom Barnaby. You’re Detective Sergeant Ben Jones?”
“I think DCI Barnaby’s confidence is sexy. But those soulful eyes on Jones? Smoldering.” Tara fanned herself.

Fade in…
Adjusting their coats against the chilly evening air, Emily (a/k/a DCI Barnaby) and Tara (a/k/a Jones) hurried toward their car. Across the field inside the tree line, a glow shot up from ground to sky before disappearing.
“Did you see that?” asked Tara.
“Indeed, I did.” Emily paused. The glow pulsed a second time. She pulled a deep breath in through her nose before retrieving two flashlights from the car. “I think, Jones,” she began, handing one to Tara. “Whatever is in those woods, it’s time we met it face to face. Come on.”
“Do ghosts have faces?” asked Tara as the two hustled across the bumpy ground. She sought out the cameraman, dipping her eyelids and delivering a steamy stare.
“Oh, I think they do, yes.” Emily replied. “Except the headless ones.”
… Tune in tomorrow as Tara and Lucie Bellerose turn up in an original episode of Law & Order as two of the show’s best detectives! (Now posted! Click here to read that scene!)
