It’s day 24 of the #TopsyTurvyTVTour over on Instagram! Yesterday Emily Swift went snooping in the casting director’s office. Today, a nightmare resurfaces. Here we go…
(This is a derivative work based on the TV program Twin Peaks, Episode 9 – The “Bob crawling over couch” scene.)
Emily handed Rabbit the thumb drive. “I think the files on this are password-protected.”
“I’ll have someone look at it,” he replied. “But you shouldn’t go snooping through the casting director’s desk.”
“Something’s not right,” Emily argued, turning on a small lamp. “Maybe a file will give us a clue. In the meantime, I need to take a nap before the next show. I haven’t been sleeping well.”
“You have time,” Rabbit said as he opened the dressing room door to leave. He flicked the light switch off. “Sweet dreams.”
Emily waved a hand, crossing to the sofa. She curled up on her side, her eyelids fluttering as she fell asleep.
Emily…
Bolting upright, Emily looked around her living room. Who said her name? She climbed off her couch and rounded the coffee table, listening. She could’ve sworn she heard a whisper.
She frowned, looking around the quiet room. Wait, when did she come home? She tried to remember, backing up slowly until her heels touched the bottom of the stairs. She sat down on the second step, facing the couch. Did she door travel home?
Emily…
“Who’s there?” she called out, a prickle snaking down her spine.
The hardwood floor creaked and Sebastian stepped around the corner from the dining room, slowly walking behind her couch. He paused, a warped smile twisting his lips as he lowered his head. His gaze locked on her from under his brow. Gripping the back of the couch, he swung a long leg over the cushions, bending his knee and crawling over the furniture. Emily’s eyelids fluttered, opening to see Sebastian clearing the coffee table next and closing the distance between them.
Her limbs were too heavy to move and her eyes closed one last time. She opened them to find the point of Sebastian’s nose two inches from hers.
Emily, he breathed against her skin.
“No!” Emily jerked, rolling off the sofa in her dressing room. She scrambled to her knees, her eyes darting to the shadows. She shivered.
THAT was not a dream.
… Tune in tomorrow as Rabbit contemplates what the network’s discovered in Game of Thrones. (The post is now available! Click here.)
Readers – Not on Instagram?
That’s okay! I’ll be sharing my Instagram posts daily here on my blogsite AND daily on Facebook at Writer Tracy Brown so you can read them there, too. Make sure you check for a new story every day in October!
What I’ll be doing: I’ll be dropping Emily Swift and crew into a story, a scene, a situation, etc. matching the “TV show of the day” prompt from this challenge. In those posts you can read about Door to Door Paranormal Mystery Characters trying to make it through shows like: The X-Files, Scooby Doo, Bewitched, Stranger Things, Friends, The Twilight Zone, The Office, Law and Order, Miami Vice, Game of Thrones, The X-Factor – and many more!
If you ARE on Instagram, make sure you’re following me at https://www.instagram.com/WriterTracyBrown/ to see the posts there! But again, as long as you check out my blog list or my Writer Tracy Brown page every day, you can read all the short stories without Instagram. 🙂
