It’s day 25 of the #RockTheTurvy writing challenge over on Instagram! Yesterday D2D characters played hide and go seek in the library. Today they are looking for a ghost in the graveyard at night – but who is watching?
To the tune of: Rosemary`s Baby, by Fantomas.
The crew pulled into Savannah, Georgia.
“We’re going on a ghost tour!” Emily grinned. She sat next to Lucie.
“Do you think Rathbone and his friends will be here?” Tara asked from the front passenger seat.
“I think author Saffron Amatti has other plans for TOMMY,” Emily teased. “You can’t win ‘em all, Tara.”
Her friend pouted as she texted Hugh Jackman.
Lucie fanned herself, glancing back at Templeton. “Don’t you ever sweat?”
Templeton glared at her. The two still weren’t saying much to one another after Day 19…
Colonial Park Cemetery, midnight:
“A self-guided tour is the way to go,” Lucie said, lifting her hair off her neck.
Rabbit pointed. “The ghost of Rene Rondolier appears up there. The legend claims the killer grew to be over seven feet tall. He broke his victims’ necks.”
Emily touched her throat. “I’m having second thoughts about this.”
“A local at Abe’s said Rondolier never existed,” Lucie replied.
“Where’s Abe’s?” Tara asked.
“Near Warren Square where Rondolier was supposedly hanged.” Lucie hesitated, cocking her head to the side. “Do you hear that?”
“It sounds like a man singing.” Emily shivered.
Rabbit stilled, his black eyes glittering. “A hundred feet ahead. There’s someone up there in the dark. I can see him standing under a tree.”
“Where’s Templeton?” Lucie breathed.
On the other side of the cemetery, Templeton followed a footpath curving up the slick hillock. At the top, a man waited. Templeton stopped before reaching him, staying in the shadows.
“Someone let you out of hell, Sebastian?” Templeton’s eyes drained of color.
“Couldn’t let you have all the fun,” the other man taunted. “I love these Turvys. You think the writers will let me help pick the prompts next time?”
Templeton snapped his fingers and a noose dropped out of the tree by Sebastian. “Unless you want to reenact Rondolier’s execution, I suggest you find a shed and door travel back to your hole.”
“Save it,” Sebastian sneered. He turned to leave, then paused, smirking at Templeton. “Make sure you give my love to Lucie.”
Tune in tomorrow as one of the D2D characters goes bungee jumping! (That post is now available. Make the jump to here!)

Readers – Not on Instagram?
That’s okay! I’ll be sharing my Instagram posts daily here on my blogsite AND daily on Facebook at Writer Tracy Brown so you can read them there, too. Make sure you check for a new story every day in February!
What’s This Mean for Door to Door Characters? I’ll be dropping Emily Swift and crew into a story, a scene, a situation, etc. matching the “prompt of the day” from the challenge. Writing prompts include: finding a dead body, having a house party, celebrating New Year’s Eve, bungee jumping, breaking down on a deserted road, getting a first kiss – and much more!
What makes the #RockTheTurvy extra special is that I’ll also be picking a song to go with the scene.
If you ARE on Instagram, make sure you’re following me at https://www.instagram.com/WriterTracyBrown/ to see the posts there! But again, as long as you check out my blog list or my Writer Tracy Brown page every day, you can read all the short stories without Instagram. 🙂
