🎃 It’s Day 5 – the last day – of the #BeyondSpooky22 writing challenge over on Instagram hosted by author Elle Hartford! (Thanks for hosting this fun challenge, Elle!) Yesterday Sebastian snooped in Lucie’s kitchen and faced off with Flame.
Today’s prompt? Confrontation!
Lucie’s bootheels tapped solidly against the stone walkway leading away from Loren’s home.
A private car waited at the curb – one ordered by Loren to ferry Lucie from her house to his and back home again. City cabs weren’t allowed in this gated community of witches.
As she approached, a breeze brushed her hair across her face. A familiar whisper carried on the wind. ‘Do not stop wearing the Stone…’ Startled, Lucie turned. “Templeton?”
But she was alone, save for the driver holding open the door to the back seat. After running her gaze over the neighborhood a final time, she nodded to the man and climbed into the car. Retrieving the Crimson Stone from her purse, she slipped the necklace over her head.
Meanwhile, Rabbit and Emily returned to Lucie’s townhouse. Without any new information, a waiting game began. Rabbit grimly poured a shot of vodka. Emily ate a banana.
Not far from Lucie’s home, in a busy coffee shop, Sebastian pressed an old ‘acquaintance’ into service. The job? Gather information on Seth Vanvolkenburg. Who was the new witch, and what did he want with Lucie?
Flame, in his cat form, peered in through the window of Coffee Cove as Sebastian pulled out a money clip and peeled off several large bills.
“What are you doing here, buddy?” Big Rabbit scooped up the orange tabby, cradling him against his chest before Flame had time to react. “Come on. Back home with you.”
Flame rolled his feline eyes, watching over Big Rabbit’s shoulder as they left the coffee shop behind. His paw flexed, his claws stretching. He couldn’t shake a feeling that something big was coming – and he feared Lucie would be at the center of it. He’d be there to help, but his instincts told him in the end, she’d face everything on her own.
CONFRONTATION is coming!

What’s This Mean for Door to Door & Bellerose Witchline Characters?
I dropped Emily Swift, Lucie Bellerose, and others from my crazy crew into a story matching the #BeyondSpooky “prompt of the day” from the challenge.
