It’s day 5 of the #TopsyTurvyBookTour over on Instagram! Yesterday Emily, Rabbit, and Templeton wandered into the dusty attic of Dorian Gray. Today I’m taking my Door to Door characters into The Cat in the Hat. Here we go…
(This is a derivative work based on the original story by Dr. Seuss.)
Emily left the dusty room.
Rabbit seemed close behind.
She didn’t see Templeton.
Emily didn’t mind!
But soon the scene transformed
and Emily was alone.
Down the stairs she stepped and said:
“I’ll look for a phone!”
But in the living room
she found a big ol’ mess.
Two creatures in top hats
put her in distress!
They bounced off furniture.
They jumped across the room.
They saw our brave Emily.
She knew that she was doomed!
She spun around on her heel.
But Rabbit was now gone!
“Where are you?” she cried.
She spied him on the lawn!
Now it was just Emily.
The Fringe was drawing near!
Emily ran from the house.
“I must get out of here!”
She stumbled down the sidewalk.
She raced across the yard.
“I need a new story!
It just can’t be that hard!”
She found a little rowboat.
to sail across the sea.
She jumped inside and paddled.
“The Fringe cannot catch me!”
But Instagram has other plans.
Oh yes, we’re not through.
Keep in mind, dear Emily,
the Fringe is watching YOU!
…stay tuned as tomorrow as Door to Door characters will be dropped into Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None. (Now posted!) 😀

What’s this about?
In August 2021, I co-hosted a writing challenge on Instagram and dropped Emily Swift and crew into a story, a scene, a situation, etc. matching the “book of the day” prompt. In these posts you can read about Door to Door Paranormal Mystery Characters trying to make it through stories like: Dracula, Harry Potter, MacBeth, Murder on the Orient Express, Winnie the Pooh, Sherlock Holmes, Little Red Riding Hood, Jurassic Park, and many more!
