It’s day 5 of the #TopsyTurvyTVTour over on Instagram! Yesterday Emily Swift and Tara Parker-Jones joined Rabbit in the Door to Door Magic Mystery Machine. Today Emily, Tara, and Lucie Bellerose attend a roaring 20s white tie affair. Here we go…
(This is a derivative work based on the TV program Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries. No specific episode chosen.)
“I don’t seem like the first choice for Phryne Fisher.” Lucie ran her hands down the fitted gold material of her top before her fingers skittered back up to the thin straps pulled over her shoulders. “I’m a little, um –”
“Boobalicious?” Tara interrupted. She twirled in a silver flapper dress. A string of beads swung around her petite frame.
“I was going to say curvy,” Lucie shot back.
Emily turned so Tara could zip up the back of her red dress. “I’m sure casting had their reasons. You look gorgeous, Lucie.”
Lucie’s cheeks colored as she passed her hands over her hips.
Fade in…
Men in white waistcoats and evening tails filled the ballroom. The ladies looped their arms together and strolled through the affair.
“I’ve never been to such a fabulous event!” said Emily.
“It’s a mystery program. Should we be on the lookout for something?” Lucie stopped, peering through the crowd. “Whoa, is that Rabbit? In white tie?”
The others craned their necks, searching the room for their friend.
“Da-am,” Tara whistled low as she shook off Emily’s arm. “Hello, Mr. Rabbit.” She made a beeline across the room. The other two followed, shaking their heads.
Gone were the concert tees with the frightening logos. In their place, a well-dressed Rabbit. His dark eyes glittered as he greeted his friends. “Looking good, ladies!”
A tall man stepped into their circle from the right. Templeton frowned at Emily’s outfit before shifting his attention to Lucie.
Unaware, Lucie’s eyes roamed the room. “There’s Anne! Wow, who’s Mr. Tall, Dark, and Rock Star on her arm? I’ll be right back.” Lucie threaded her way through the crowd. ‘Rock Star,’ as she called him, smiled wickedly as his gaze dipped down into her cleavage.
Templeton watched the interaction between the witch and the mysterious man. His nostrils flared once and he turned away, disappearing into the crowd.
Emily watched him go, her heart softening. “Maybe it’s not so strange Lucie was tapped to be Miss Fisher after all.”
… Tune in tomorrow as Door to Door characters are strolling into an episode of Miami Vice! (That ‘episode’ is now posted! Click here.)
