🎩It’s Day 7 – the last day – of the #TurvyTruthOrDare Instagram writing challenge! Yesterday Lucie was “saved by the bell.” Today Emily Swift finally gets to play the game – and what a finale! Here we go!
“That was unexpected,” Emily said as they returned. “At least it was a false alarm.”
Lucie stood just inside the door rubbing her temples. “Day 7. Emily, dare.”
“Excellent!” Emily grabbed the top card from the Dare pile. Her face lit up. She glanced upward as if in prayer and whispered: “Thank you.”
Then she dashed out of the room, leaving the card behind.
Rabbit warily picked it up. “It says: A parade is outside. Hop on the float. You are Ferris Bueller. Get ready to twist and shout.”
“OMG, she’s going to sing!” Tara opened the door to the outside. The first strains of Twist & Shout drifted in.
“This is a nightmare.” Rabbit motioned to Big Rabbit and his girlfriend. “Let’s go. Once she opens her mouth there’s going to be a riot.”
“Right behind you,” Tara called. She paused at the door, putting a hand on Lucie’s arm. “Coming?”
“Yeah, go on.” Lucie eyed Templeton and Sebastian wearily as Tara left. “Templeton?”
“I’ll meet you outside.” He stood, pulling on his suit coat.
Lucie spared a final look for Sebastian. He tilted his head to the side and waited. She hesitated, but then turned and left.
Sebastian shrugged. Standing, he yawned and scratched his chest. “This was fun, #Temptington. I can’t wait until the next Turvy.”
Templeton drained the scant amount of scotch from his glass.
“I’m impressed with you, #Temptington. You didn’t even resort to using magic once.” Sebastian reached for his leather jacket. “You’re a real champ.”
Templeton ignored him, walking toward the door. Sebastian simply wasn’t worth his time.
As he passed, Sebastian made one last jab. “I think Lucie likes me, don’t you?”
The ice blue faded from Templeton’s irises, his eyes becoming completely white except for his pinprick pupils. He spun, his fist connecting solidly with Sebastian’s chin, knocking him to the floor. Sebastian shook his shaggy head and glowered up at Templeton.
Templeton removed a piece of lint from his coat sleeve before leaving Sebastian behind. He allowed himself a rare smile. Sometimes a solid punch was way more satisfying than a magical slap.
And there you have it! The #TurvyTruthOrDare writing challenge has come to an end. I hope you’ve enjoyed the fun and the drama brought to you by Emily Swift and crew!Â

What’s This Mean for Door to Door Characters? I’ll be dropping Emily Swift, Lucie Bellerose, Templeton, and the rest of the crew into a story matching the Truth or Dare “prompt of the day” from the challenge.
If you ARE on Instagram, make sure you’re following me at https://www.instagram.com/WriterTracyBrown/ to see the posts there! But again, as long as you check out my blog list or my Writer Tracy Brown page every day, you can read all the short stories without Instagram. 🙂
