🎩 Thank you to the AWESOME Barbara Kellyn (rom-com author) for this 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 5-star review of my first book, Door to Door!
Accept the call to adventure – Remember turning 30, when you think you’ve finally settled comfortably into adulthood, found your groove with relationships and career, and pretty much have life all figured out? Little did we know how innocent we were about the curveballs and life lessons still in store. I think that’s why Emily Swift, the imperfectly endearing protagonist in TL Brown’s Door to Door is so darn relatable. We’ve all been Emily at some point, standing on the threshold of finding our purpose yet far from realizing we were about to embark on our hero’s journey.
Surely, it’s not by coincidence that Emily’s hero’s journey begins on her 30th birthday, an age that straddles naivete and self-assuredness. Emily is gifted a mysterious book on her doorstep that traces back to her late father, an enigmatic figure she has affectionate but shadowy recollections of as a salesman often called away from home. From there, Emily reluctantly answers the call to adventure and begins rushing through an endless maze to the truth, solving cryptic riddles and chasing ambiguous figures who may turn out to be a help or a hindrance (or both) to finding out why she was chosen and deeper, through her quest to discover who her father really was, what he did and with whom he was entangled. As readers, we cannot help but cash our ticket for this most fantastic ride filled with enthralling surprises and unexpected twists – just as we did when we first entered Narnia, Wonderland or even a Galaxy, Far, Far Away.
It’s nearly impossible to talk about plot points without unraveling the mysteries, and that is one of this story’s great joys for readers to discover. Needless to say, I am completely gobsmacked by the author’s impressive storytelling ability and world building, as this page-turner kept me engaged and trying to figure out what was around the next proverbial corner (I could not!). I love how TL Brown weaves intricate details of past and present that kept me guessing. I found myself becoming attached to her dynamic cast of characters, especially Emily, whose personal growth and maturity is evident as she comes into her own and fulfills her destiny. In the end, we reach a conclusion that is satisfying and a sigh of relief, yet, it leaves Emily and the reader curious about what the next story will bring. This adventure has only just begun.
❤️ Thank you for such an amazing, thoughtful review, Barbara. I’m honored you enjoyed Emily’s first wild adventure! 😘

Now that Emily is 30, it turns out that she can “door travel” too, stumbling unplanned into kitchens, bathrooms, and alleyways as her connection to the Salesman Empire is revealed… Find out more by clicking the links below!
