I love Amazon Kindle Unlimited (KU) – as a reader and a writer. I love how for a small fee per month (currently $10.74 USD), I have reading access to thousands of great ebooks – many from indie authors I have come to know and admire. As an author, I love that I can offer my books “for free” to KU subscribers.
After much consideration, I will be pulling all of my books from KU when their enrollment period ends. Dates are listed below. This was an incredibly difficult decision to make, and frankly, I’ve been thinking about it for a long time.
It came down to this:
IF my ebooks are listed on a book pirate site (i.e., STOLEN), it’s possible that Amazon will view that as a violation (by me!) of their KU terms and remove my books from its website without warning. This has happened to other authors. Books were removed from Amazon, royalties lost, and reviews gone. Folks, I’m not raking in the big bucks in royalties. The big issues for me come down to the possibilities of having my books pulled from Amazon, losing reviews, and starting over from scratch.
Risk assessment weighs in favor of removing my books from the Amazon Kindle Unlimited program. I’m sorry to readers who count on KU for their books. Please note I currently price my ebooks from 99 cents to $1.99 (USD), so hopefully, leaving KU will not deter you from buying and reading them. The books will remain on Amazon for purchase. Someday I might “go wide” and offer them in other legitimate places (B&N, AppleBooks, etc.).
In the meantime, my books are available to read in KU until the following term end dates. If you’ve ever wanted to read them in KU, now is your chance.
Door to Door Paranormal Mystery Series:
- Door to Door – KU term end date: May 23, 2023 PDT
- Through the Door – KU term end date: June 19, 2023 PDT
- Doors Wide Open – KU term end date: April 23, 2023 PDT
Bellerose Witchline Adult Dark Fantasy Series:
- A Thin Witchline Between Love & Hate – KU term end date: June 21, 2023 PDT
- Crossing the Witchline – KU term end date: June 16, 2023 PDT
As an independent author, I spend more on the creation of a book than I make. I write and publish because I love to write and share stories. I encourage readers to continue their support of indies, and thank you.
