A big thank you to author and poet Sherry Ross for her ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5-star review of Through the Door! This is a beautiful review – and I am grateful!
A Playful and Suspenceful Paranormal Adventure – THROUGH THE DOOR, book two in the Door to Door Trilogy by T. L. Brown, takes us back into the Adventures of Emily in Empireland; where Salesmen can travel through portals, doors of course. We are swept into the dark and delightful world of Brown’s eccentric characters. Emily, our protagonist and Salesman-in-training, is as impulsive as ever, ready for trouble, and for good reason: to retrieve her mom from the Empire, where things go from bad to worse. Her mom, Lydia, winds up abducted by the sinister Fringe. Who can Emily trust? Emily’s powers are growing; she may have a bit more magic in her than just door travel. Emily goes against everyone’s warnings, even before she has been given permission to door travel alone, and is off to save her mom; and her mom has surprising secrets of her own.
Tara, Emily’s best friend, is back in a big way. You will love her. She is forever and incorrigibly flirtatious. And there are so many handsome Rabbits (those mysterious messengers who can find out anything and who are essential to the running of the Empire) for her to flirt with. You will see all the Rabbits in full swing in book two. Emily’s Rabbit, who I love, shows a dark side, making him more complex. He is always there for Emily. And as usual, he then disappears.
I have to take a moment and mention the delicious food. Between exhausting adventures, we are treated to the most scrumptious treats, especially at The Sweet Spot, from the baker with a bit of magic, Tuesday, a very maternal figure.
Morally ambiguous Templeton is prominent, better than ever, irritating and engaging, mysterious and ever obsessed with Emily. He is manipulative as always. He wants something, in a hard bargain, maddening to Emily. Templeton may have made too many bargains for his own good. But he remains highly protective of Emily, despite his Machiavellian ways.
Here a new and fabulous character enters stage. Nisha will make your eyes widen. She is a priestess, gorgeous, powerful, and sinister and has something big on Templeton. She also knows Rabbit….Emily’s Rabbit. She will play a big role in the final book, Doors Wide Open. Who is she really, what does she want? What is she up to? Fortunately I have book three on my shelf.
