Josephine “Jo” Carter is a Senior Salesman assigned to mentor Emily Swift in book two, Through the Door.
Stats
We know Jo is a ginger-haired redhead:
Jo paused, pushing a ginger lock of hair behind her ear. “But excuses are not going to cut it. Dedication to study and practice will move you toward mastery. Without it, the Court will never…”
And a sharp dresser, as Emily observes:
Jo picked up a dark blazer and slipped it on over her fit frame. I wondered if she had come from a lawyerly meeting that morning. She was dressed sharp in a black pencil skirt and a light taupe blouse with capped sleeves. The top showed off the defined triceps in her arms. No underarm wattle for Jo. I watched as she picked up her top hat, a demure piece with a short stack and a cream-colored ribbon that wrapped around it, brought together with a flat, rectangular bow sitting on the right side.
Work and Family
She is a lawyer by trade, living in New York City with her husband and daughter. She’s a firm, but kind, teacher when it comes to door traveling.
Brains and Braun
Emily describes Jo as:
…at the top of her class when she entered the Salesman ranks. An accomplished lawyer, Jo lived in New York City with her husband and teenage daughter. She had a fast mind and a sharp eye. She pulled no punches and didn’t shy away from providing criticism if she believed it was necessary…
She also has a mean right hook.
