The Door to Door Paranormal Mystery Series has earned great reviews from Goodreads and Amazon readers.
5 out of 5 stars – Cosy paranormal mystery with lots of twists and turns
This is not a genre I usually read, but the strong and quirky lead character drew me in. There’s plenty of mystery, hints of magic, even a touch of Narnia. I’ve seen a review mentioning Stephen King’s 11/22/63, but it’s even more reminiscent of King and Straub’s Talisman. There’s a whole other world out there, alongside ours, but only those with the most special skills – the Salesmen – can travel easily between the two. One thing I particularly liked is that you can’t become a Salesman (and incidentally, there are male AND female Salesmen) until you reach the age of 30. So, we have a seemingly ordinary woman who reaches that birthday and discovers she’s actually extra-ordinary.
Emily Swift is an engaging, easy to like heroine who more than carries the book, but author T. L. Brown gives us a whole host of other appealing characters on both sides of the divide between worlds.
I’m pleased there’s another book, but can’t believe that will be it: Door to Door is a great opening to a series that could run and run. It’s eminently Netflix-worthy.

5 out of 5 stars – Lovable characters, intriguing mystery and a fresh approach to the cozy genre
Sometimes one book can refresh a whole genre. That is what Door to Door does for cozy mysteries. T.L. Brown weaves a story that meets the cozy criteria without belaboring stale, tired tropes. I loved the believable characters with their own individual quirks. The relationships between them are well done as well. If you don’t fall in love with Jack, we can’t be friends.
At different points in the story I was reminded of The Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, and even Stephen King’s, 11/22/63. As in these stories, the main character, Emily Swift is an “every woman” thrust into an unknown world who must solve a mystery in order to return to her real life. But, can one really go back to their old life after experiencing such an adventure? I think not. Nor, is there a way to experience cozy mysteries ever quite the same after reading “Door to Door.” Luckily, I hear there’s a sequel coming!

I don’t even know where to begin… This is a fantastic story. Absolutely fantastic. And I say that not only because I’ve known about it since its early genesis and been able to watch it develop over time, but because it is a well-written story populated by deeply relatable characters set in a universe that is original and magical and entertaining.
It’s a cozy mystery without the seemingly obligatory small English Village, librarian-turned-sleuth, or over-reliance on coincidence or puns. There are tea and cats though – but only in supporting roles. The story is well paced, the writing is crisp, and everything about this one works for me.
I cannot wait for installment number two!
Thank you to the author for my obligation-free review copy.

5 out of 5 stars – A Delightful Read
This story captivated from start to finish, with characters that jumped off the page. I could see them so clearly and felt like I was along on the fantastical journey with them. Can’t wait to read the next one: Through the Door!

5 out of 5 stars – A 30th birthday like no other!
T.L. Brown’s debut novel is a gem that sparkles with wit, colorfully crafted characters, edge-of-the-seat suspense, and just the right amount of humor. When the eminently human main character, Emily Swift, is shaken from her ordinary life into extraordinary adventure, she discovers powers and abilities she never knew she possessed. I look forward to learning how she develops and uses her newfound capabilities in future installations of the Door to Door series. I highly recommend this book.

5 out of 5 stars – OK, I’m Hooked!
I am the first to say that Fantasy is not my usual genre! However, it didn’t take long for Emily Swift’s adventure to reel me in. The tale moves along at a tantalizing pace, and each scene is painted in exquisite detail. TL Brown’s succeeds in creating characters who have depth and passion, mixed with the quirks and foibles that make them believable, fascinating and appealing. I took advantage of the author’s nightly chapter reading and re-discovered the sheer joy of being read to. I truly can’t wait for the next book!

5.0 out of 5 stars – Fantastic Read!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I cannot wait for the second in the series to be published! TL Brown has a knack for building intrigue and mystery in a way that keeps you reading. I kept telling myself…”Just one more chapter and then I’ll set the book down.” But before I knew it, I was flipping the page and starting to read the next chapter! I enjoyed the characters and trying to piece together who was truly helping Emily and who was trying to keep her from solving the mystery and discovering more about her father. So much fun to read!!!

I understand that a review from the author’s spouse may be a bit unusual, but this is one of my favorite stories! I have about a dozen books I love just because I love them, for many different reasons. I go back to them year after year because I love to BE in those worlds. That is the genius of Door to Door. You aren’t reading a book, you are living in the world TL Brown created for you. And you will want to BE in that world over and over.
Door to Door is a fantastic read. Though I thought the genre was not my thing, once I read the book and became involved in the world it invites us into, I was totally hooked. TL Brown couldn’t get chapters to me fast enough! The world-building in this book pulls you quickly into a story that has all the right things: mystery, murder, magic, adventure, sexual tension, and deep friendships.
The main character, Emily, is the Luke Skywalker of cozy mysteries. She’s thrown into a world she knows nothing about, and emerges as a brave and powerful force, an adventurer every bit as flawed, unpredictable, powerful and lovable as Luke. There is something epic about Door to Door that excites me in the same way that story did.
Part of the ‘magic’ in this book (apart from the actual magic) is Brown’s careful treatment of the characters we meet and their relationship with Emily. TL Brown makes us feel as strongly about the friends (and foes) Emily meets as she herself does. I CARE about what happens to these people!
So, in the early days, TL Brown talked to me about the book, and I loved hearing her ideas. As she wrote the book and shared chapters with me, I then LOVED the book! You will too!
Buy it. Read it. Love it. Simple.

5 out of 5 stars – Well done!
I could not put this book down. I loved following along on Emily’s adventures from beginning to end. And I can’t wait to read more. Where will she go next? How will she settle into her new role (not telling what that role is. You’ll have to read the book to find out more). Well done and much success to you T.L.
