Matar is one of three large cities located in the Empire. It is the capital and home to the Salesman Court, the official governing body of the Empire.
Matar is a mix of industry to the west—where gentrification of some of the older neighborhoods is now taking place—and a thriving, vibrant business district toward the eastern part of the city. Downtown, the Salesman Court manages the business of running the Empire.
To the north, “witch interests” are consolidated, and the Congress of Empire Witches (CEW) fills an entire city block.
Because it’s the capital of the Empire, a lot of money and power flow through Matar’s streets.
In its most active years, the terrorist group, the Fringe, developed a strong presence in Matar in the shadow of the official government.
