Peti Kis Gallery

He’s a horrible person with a lot of money and power here in Vue. He owns one of the most popular galleries in the city, but I find some of the art he endorses lacking in spirit. Still, if you want to skyrocket to success as an artist, Peti’s gallery has made some of the biggest names in the Empire. But he’s a ruthless gatekeeper, approving artists on a whim—or tossing them off with a devastating review. He’s a mean, little man.” – Tuesday, Baker and Proprietress of The Sweet Spot in Vue
The Peti Kis Gallery is located in the city of Vue, a jewel of the Empire sitting on the shore of Sight Sea. The gallery is also the scene of a murder involving a glass knife.
The building’s light-colored stone displays clean lines with simple grid windows to let in a soft light. A grand, central entrance is framed by a high arch, guiding visitors toward glass doors etched with the gallery’s name in square letters.
The gallery’s footprint spans most of a city block—its modest two stories home to some of the biggest artist names in the Empire, as well as select emerging artists who hope to launch successful careers.
Sculptures and ornate fountains are found in the lush garden surrounding the building, where events are often held in better weather.
Emily Swift’s mother causes quite a stir when she wanders through the Empire—with her worried daughter hot on her heels—in Through the Door, Book Two in the Door to Door Paranormal Mystery Series.
The late appearance of the gallery’s security guards blocked my path. Several of them guided the onlookers backward, their beefy arms spread wide. Two others apprehended the painter. As soon as they grabbed him, he lurched forward at Peti, surprising and knocking the gallery owner into a narrow display stand. A glass sculpture of a knife toppled toward the floor.
In an instant, my mother swept down and caught the piece of art by the handle before it shattered. The whole room held its collective breath as she carefully placed it back on its stand, the glass blade catching a beam of light and sending a rainbow up a nearby wall. She smiled kindly at Peti.
Peti’s face was on fire. His eyes bugged out of his head. “Look what you did!” He roared at my mother and the painter. “Get out, both of you!”
